The issue of rule violations in the use of non-smoking rooms at Class IIB Blitar Correctional Facility presents a significant challenge in creating a healthy and orderly prison environment. The ineffectiveness of manual supervision has prompted the need for the implementation of technology-based systems to support enforcement. Therefore, this community service activity focuses on the application of a fingerprint-based attendance system to enhance monitoring of non-smoking room usage. The implementation methods included initial observation, system planning, fingerprint device installation, socialization to inmates and officers, and evaluation of outcomes. The results show an increase in discipline, a reduction in rule violations, and more effective supervision by officers. The fingerprint system was also positively received by inmates for promoting a more orderly and comfortable environment. Despite technical challenges such as unreadable fingerprints and dependence on electricity, the system proved to be practical and holds potential for future development. This community service effort demonstrates that simple technology can significantly support correctional programs and rule enforcement. Thus, the system has the potential to be replicated in other correctional facilities with similar needs.
