This study analyzes the discourse of Indonesian President Prabowo Subianto’s speech regarding the death of Affan Kurniawan as a form of political communication. The research employs Teun A. Van Dijk’s Critical Discourse Analysis by examining macrostructure, superstructure, and microstructure. The findings indicate that the speech functions not only as an expression of condolence and empathy but also as a discursive strategy to manage public opinion. Through themes of solidarity, a systematic speech structure, and the use of empathetic and nationalistic language, the discourse contributes to shaping government image, maintaining social stability, and reinforcing political legitimacy during a sensitive social context.
